So many of us adjusted to working from home last year. It had its ups and downs, to say the least. From missing colleagues and our routines to embracing the lack of commute and the freedom to work in pyjamas. With restrictions slowly easing, we could soon be back in our offices. If you haven’t worn work attire in a while, don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Get Organised
Firstly, you should organise and sort out the clothes you already have. There’s probably going to be pieces that you’ve forgotten you own. There’s no shame in this, lots of people turned to their comfiest clothes in lockdown rather than wear their usual business outfits. A well-organised wardrobe can make a huge difference in helping you get ready to return to work. You can remind yourself of what clothes you like, and pick a couple of your favourite combinations for your first few days back.
Comfortable
It’s totally normal to feel nervous about going back to work after being away so long. Ease yourself into the transition by picking pieces you’re most comfortable wearing. Whether it’s your favourite blouse or blazer or perhaps a pencil skirt or polka dot dress. Pick items that are comfortable to commute and sit in. Bonus: the more confident you feel in them, the better.
Classic Colours
The team over at Glamour recommended keeping things simple for your first days back. You don’t have to go bold straight away. You can begin by choosing neutral colours. Khakis and creams go wonderfully together. For instance, you could opt for an oversized cream shirt with a slim fit khaki trouser for a classic combination. This neutral foundation allows you to play with pops of colours with your accessories in the future.
Finishing Touches
You know what clothes you’re going to wear, but what about those last few finishing touches? A good rule of thumb to remember with your workplace jewellery is to keep it simple and understated. Wearing a simple and classic diamond ring with a simple ear stud will surely complete your final look. Also, it would seem that the general consensus for returning to the office is that you don’t have to worry about heels. Three pairs of flat shoes should be enough for you to mix and match with.
Going back to the office will be a strange transitional time for so many people. You can help yourself during this transition by picking clothes that make you feel gorgeous and comfortable. How are you feeling about returning to the office?
