A Quick-Fire Round with Louise

What are your biggest life lessons?

My guiding principle, given to me by a manager during my radio days, is: ‘Never stop being curious.’ This mindset is key to avoiding premature judgments and allows me to approach new, daunting tasks with an openness and readiness to learn.

What is the best thing about being your own boss?

It’s the freedom to celebrate my passions and ambition! I enjoy the flexibility and the ability to choose how I use my time. Freedom is paramount. I also find immense joy in meeting new people, hearing their stories, and connecting within the diverse entrepreneurial world.

How do you start your day?

It starts with a yawn, a stretch, and gulping a glass of water—I’m not a morning person! I then use a 10-15 minute yoga routine via YouTube to wake up and focus my mind, embracing mindfulness before a busy day. Then, it’s the shower and that essential “cup of ambition”… aka coffee!

Who (or what) inspires you most?

I’m inspired by stories of successful people because the journey often reveals challenges and setbacks. Learning from the difficulties others encounter reminds me that success requires resilience. My biggest inspirations are Oprah and my mum.

What makes you feel creative?

I’m often in ‘sponge mode,’ soaking up ideas from everywhere: museums, theatre, film, podcasts, or exhibitions. Absorbing different media—visuals, sounds, and images—is what truly fuels my creativity.

The Journey and Vision

How I Got Here

My journey started with a deep love for music. Growing up, I was constantly glued to Top of the Pops and MTV (think iconic videos like Michael Jackson’s “Bad” and Madonna’s “Vogue”). As a teenager, I decided I wanted to work in radio—not as a presenter, but in producing live music programmes.

This ambition led me to study radio, volunteer at stations, take on work experience placements, and eventually secure my first industry job working for the BBC as a Broadcast Assistant. From there, my career broadened to include writing newspaper columns and articles, TV producing and presenting, and social media management. Even after 20+ years, I am still on a continuous journey to learn, develop, and enjoy absorbing myself in the media and marketing world.

My Passions

  • Learning something new: There’s always a new technique, platform, or strategy to discover, and I find that really exciting, even after two decades in the industry.
  • Meeting new people: It’s fascinating! I genuinely enjoy learning about their passions, motivations, and unique career journeys.

What I’m Proud Of

I recently led a marketing and media campaign to promote joining the fire service, which showcased the diverse daily lives of the crew. This impactful work has been recognized by the communications and PR industry with two award nominations—an achievement I am incredibly proud of.
