Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s leading celebration of startups. Each year in November, hundreds of partners put on local events to support new businesses. Here is our round-up of the top events for women this year. (note: unfortunately we couldn’t find anything in Scotland or Wales – if you know of any other good events there or elsewhere please list them in the comments at the end of this article).
Business Bootcamp for Women – One Day to Shape-up Your New Business
Norwich, Thursday 20th November
Prowess’s own showcase event for GEW 2014 offers 100 Norfolk women the chance to shape-up their new business or idea in one day. Supported by NatWest and Worldpay, the bootcamp begins with a ‘How they did it’ panel of self-made local business women, including retail and online success story Lisa Angel and award-winning young start-up Samantha Coe of the Wharf Academy.
This inspiring and hands-on event includes creative workshop options, the chance to meet others who are exploring or starting out in enterprise and to find out about the business support and advice available locally.
This free event is aimed at women who are pre-start-up or within the first 12 months of business.

Virgin StartUp Ignition: Business tricks and insight for amazing women
London, Wednesday 19th November
Virgin StartUp have created a line-up that will bring together women with unique perspectives to help suss out what’s really important when starting a business, share lessons that have already been learnt the hard way, and ultimately boost the number of female-owned companies in UK. Speakers include food business mogul, Annabel Karmel, and Cosmopolitan’s Editor, Louise Court.
The event is aimed at women who are pre-start-up or within the first 12 months of business.

Women in Export
Gatwick, Thursday 13th November
Business women from across the South East are set to share their experiences of export success and gain valuable knowledge at UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) South East’s second women-led business event this year, focusing on the exciting opportunities in the Far East.
‘Women in Export’, will provide the chance to hear how local women-led companies have succeeded internationally, inspiring business women to look beyond the UK for business.

North West Women’s Enterprise Day

What makes a Portsmouth female entrepreneur
Portsmouth, Wednesday 19th November
Female entrepreneurship takes center-stage this November as Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) launches on November 19, 2014. Alongside that event the University of Portsmouth is facilitating an event around entrepreneurship for women in the City. This event will attempt to celebrate the success of female business women in the City and inspire more to take up the mantle.
Led by Amy Doyle from the University of Portsmouth the event will feature 10 minute talks form women who are successful entrepreneurs or on the road to success. The speakers are from a wide and varied background and will talk about running businesses from a variety of different angles, including the bedroom boardroom, retraining to start a new career and managing success sustainably.
